On my drives by I have noticed that Toddbrook reservoir in Whaley Bridge is very, very low on water indeed. I took a wee trip out to investigate! It seems that it's being deliberately drained to allow repairs to the valve gear. It's really quite deep - I am used to reservoirs being disappointingly shallow with no water in them - but those steps in the foreground must go down 50 feet alone.
